The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and brightening morning, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
