A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 Towards Firaun and his court members – in response they were haughty, and they were in dominance. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings. 50
