We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 Do We consider the righteously striving believers equal to the evil-doers in the land? Are the pious ones equal to those who openly commit sin? 28 (Here is) a Book which We have sent down unto thee, full of blessings, that they may mediate on its Signs, and that men of understanding may receive admonition. 29 And We vouchsafed unto Da'ud Sulaiman. How excellent a bondman! verily he was oft-returning. 30 Recall what time there were presented unto him, at eventide, coursers swift-footed. 31 he said: “Lo! I have come to love this wealth on account of the remembrance of my Lord.” And when the horses disappeared, 32 "Bring them back to me," and he began to rub and stroke their shanks and necks. 33 Certainly We tried Solomon, and We cast upon his throne a mere body; then he repented. 34 He said: "My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me: Verily, You are the Bestower." 35 Then We subjected to him the wind: it ran gently by his command withersoever he directed. 36 As also the evil ones, (including) every kind of builder and diver,- 37 And many others bound in bond. 38 [We said], "This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account." 39 And most surely he had a nearness to Us and an excellent resort. 40
