Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 We verily, have made it a Quran in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions). 3 And verily, [originating as it does] in the source, with Us, of all revelation, it is indeed sublime, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 (It is) He who made the earth to be a cradle for you and made in it ways for you, in order that you are guided. 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 And He Who created pairs of all things, and made for you of the ships and the cattle what you ride on, 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
