And Yunus was most surely of the apostles. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 Then he joined the lots, and was of the condemned. 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 he would indeed have remained in its belly till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more. 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. – 151 That “Allah has offspring”; and indeed, surely, they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will you not, then, bethink yourselves? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Then bring your Book if you are truthful! 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 Purity is to Allah from the matters they fabricate. 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 So surely you and what you worship, 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 And yet, [now that this divine writ has been placed before them,] they refuse to acknowledge it as true! In time, however, they will come to know [what it was that they had rejected]: 170 Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers, 171 That they would be helped, 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 So turn away from them for a while. 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned! 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 And watch, for they will soon see. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 And peace be unto the sent ones. 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
