The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right. 38
