Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a lofty Garden 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
