The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is covered, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 that hide, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
