The Galloppers (Al-Aadeyaat)

11 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Afternoon (Al-'Asr) before Bounty (Al-Kawthar)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

I swear by the runners breathing pantingly, 1 then raise sparks of fire (by their hoofs), 2 Then those that make raids at morn, 3 And raise the dust in clouds the while, 4 which engulfs the enemy. 5 Surely Man is ungrateful to his Lord, 6 And lo! he is a witness unto that; 7 and surely he loves riches with a passionate loving. 8 ۞ Is he not aware that when whatever lies (buried) in the graves is overthrown; 9 And the secrets of the hearts exposed, 10 their Lord will examine his deeds? 11
