I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 Your religion is one and I am your Lord. Have fear of Me". 52 The people divided themselves into many sects, each with their own book and each happy with whatever they had. 53 Therefore leave them in their overwhelming ignorance till 54 Deem they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We enlarge them. 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Those who tremble with fear of their Lord; 57 and those who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 And those who with their Lord associate not anyone. 59 And those who give that which they give with hearts afraid because they are about to return unto their Lord, 60 These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race. 61 We do not impose on any soul what is beyond its capacity. We have the Book which speaks the truth and no injustice will be done to it. 62 But their hearts are heedless of this. Moreover, there are other deeds besides this which they do. 63 So that when We seize the affluent among them with affliction, they will begin to implore for help. 64 [But they will be told] "Cry not in supplication today; for, behold, you shall not be succoured by Us! 65 My revelations were recited to you, but you turned your backs 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Have they, then, never tried to understand this word [of God]? Or has there [now] come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old? 68 Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging? 69 Do they say he is possessed? Rather he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth. 70 Had the truth followed their desires, the heavens and the earth and all that is in them would have been destroyed. We sent them the Quran but they ignored it. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 Indeed you are calling them to a Straight Path, 73 but those who disbelieve in the Everlasting Life deviate from the Path. 74 ۞ And if We show mercy to them and remove the distress they have, they would persist in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 until We opened the gate of greater torment (death) and they suddenly found themselves in despair. 77
