The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they have been differing? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
