The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
