We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 And We exalted them over the other people knowingly, 32 and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back to life our fathers if what you say is true". 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 none of this have We created without [an inner] truth: but most of them understand it not. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
