He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he feareth 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and purified. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
