Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. 5 Surely, getting up at night [for worship] is the most potent means of subduing the self and most suitable for the word [of prayer]. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
