He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you ignore him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
