WHAT, THEN, is amiss with such as are bent on denying the truth, that they run about confusedly to and fro before thee, 36 on the right and on the left in groups? 37 Does every one of them wish to enter the garden of tranquility? 38 Not so; for We have created them of what they know. 39 I do not need to swear by the Lord of the eastern and western regions that We have certainly all the power 40 to replace them with [people] better than they are; for there is nothing to prevent Us [from doing what We will]. 41 So leave them to engage in vain talk and to amuse themselves until they come face to face with the Day which they are promised, 42 The day when they come forth from the graves in haste, as racing to a goal, 43 Their eyes cast down; disgrace shall overtake them; that is the day which they were threatened with. 44
