The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
