The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
