He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 So you are after him! 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 and angelic scribes. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
