The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
