This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 for, neither does it suit their ends, nor is it in their power [to impart it to man]: 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
