The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Then We sent against them one Shout and they became like the trampled twigs of the (sheep) penbuilder. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And at daybreak a determined punishment came upon them. 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
