Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. 1 Guiding unto rectitude; wherefore we have believed therein, and we shall by no means associate with our Lord anyone. 2 and that “He exalted be His Majesty has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 and we had thought that men and jinn would never speak against God a lie. 5 and that “some from among the humans used to seek protection of some among the jinn, and thus they increased the arrogance of the jinn”; 6 and they thought, even as you also thought, that God would never raise up anyone. 7 'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ 10 And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 And when we heard the Message of guidance, we believed therein; and whosoever believeth in his Lord, he shall fear neither diminution nor wrong. 13 'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allah, after listening to this Quran), and of us some are Al-Qasitun (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islam (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allah), then such have sought the Right Path." 14 but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"' 15 And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant provision 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 and that “mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone with Him”; 18 Yet [thus it is] that whenever a servant of God stands up in prayer to Him, they [who are bent on denying the truth] would gladly overwhelm him with their crowds. 19
