The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
