Say, [O Muhammad], "I am only a warner, and there is not any deity except Allah, the One, the Prevailing. 65 "The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- Exalted in Might, able to enforce His Will, forgiving again and again." 66 Say, "This is momentous news, 67 (And) you are turning aside from it: 68 I had no knowledge of the exalted assembly [of angels] when they were disputing [the creation of Adam]. 69 Only this has been revealed to me that I am a distinct warner. 70 When your Lord said to the angels: 'I am creating a human from clay, 71 after I have shaped him and breathed of My spirit (I created) into him, fall down prostrate before him' 72 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 73 except Iblis. He waxed proud and became one of the unbelievers. 74 Allah said: O Iblis! what preventeth thee from prostrating thyself before that which I have created with both my hands? Becomest thou stiff-necked, or art thou of the exalted ones? 75 He said: "I am better than he. You created me from fire, and him from clay." 76 The Lord said, "Get out of here. You deserve to be stoned! 77 And surely My curse is on you to the day of judgment. 78 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 79 He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved 80 until the day of the known time.' 81 He said: Then by Thy Might I will surely make them live an evil life, all, 82 except those among them who are Your sincere worshipers' 83 He said: The truth then is and the truth do I speak: 84 I shall assuredly fill Gehenna with thee, and with whosoever of them follows thee, all together.' 85 (O Prophet), tell them: “I do not ask you for any recompense for the performance of this task; nor am I given to affectation. 86 This [divine writ,] behold, is no less than a reminder to all the worlds — 87 "And ye shall certainly know the truth of it (all) after a while." 88
