The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 And abundant fruit, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
