He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 So you are after him! 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fearfully, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
