Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven - how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
