The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
