Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In an elevated garden, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
