The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
