The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 A written record, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
