And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
