Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
