The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
