The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
