The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 chastely amorous, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
