The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
