The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
