Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty Garden 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 And not known my account! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
