Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
