And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 Iblis said, "Lord, because you have caused me to go astray, I shall make earthly things attractive to (people) and mislead all of them 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 God said, "This is the path which leads straight to Me. 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
