Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 Was there none but he to whom the Reminder could be vouchsafed excluding all others? Nay; he is an insolent liar.” 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 through Our Mercy. So it is that We recompense the thankful. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance.
