Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
