Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
