The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said: Lo! this is some knowing wizard, 109 who seeks to drive you out from your land. What would you have us do?' 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 "That they bring up to you all well-versed sorcerers." 112 The sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said: 'Shall we be rewarded if we are the winners' 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He answered: "You throw [first]." And when they threw down [their staffs,] they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and struck them with awe, and produced mighty sorcery. 116 And We revealed to Musa, saying: Cast your rod; then lo! it devoured the lies they told. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Lord, pour patience upon us and let us die as submitters (Muslims)' 126
