The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 by the Visited House, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
