In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He; so take Him for a Guardian. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 on the Day the earth and mountains shall shake and the mountains crumble into shifting sand dunes. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
