The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
